Fraud
Deposits, kits and other fake job costs
Real work has costs, but they're never paid to the person offering you the job. Fake offers turn that around.
Costs that signal a fake job
- Deposits or registration fees to "hold" a position or start working.
- Starter kits or training packs you must buy from the person recruiting you.
- Balances to top up before you can withdraw what you've supposedly earned.
- Moving money for someone else, or buying gift cards to be reimbursed. This can draw you into money laundering.
Other warning signs
Pressure to decide today, requests to keep it private, a move to a private chat app, and pay far beyond what the work requires.
Checking
Look up the company's official site yourself and contact them there. Search the name with "scam" or "complaint".
If you've paid
Stop paying, even if a refund is promised after one more fee. Contact your bank immediately, keep every message and receipt, and report it to the police and the consumer protection authority.
